The Bourne Ultimatum Reviews

In order to fully appreciate 'The Bourne Ultimatum', one must have to have seen 'The Bourne Identity' and 'The Bourne Supremacy'. Like it's prequel's, it is slick, action packed, suspenseful and has an engaging screenplay. I particularly loved the chase scenes shot in Tangier. Director Greengrass just keeps the right pace without making it boring or too fast to follow. A fine ending to a trilogy, I preferred it over the overrated 'Lord of the Rings: The Return of The King' and the abysmal 'X-Men: The Last Stand'. 'The Bourne Ultimatum' has done justice to the first two films.

Cinematography deserves special mention, whether it's the shaky camera or the zoom-lens, it certainly adds to the 'fun' of the ride supported by brilliant background score. The dialogues and characters are very well written. This is especially a plus because character development seems to be lacking in action films of today. Damon again looks the part and his acting is fantastic as he completely owns the role. Supporting cast that boasts of talented names like Joan Allen, Paddy Considine, Albert Finney and David Straitharn all stand out.

A brilliant conclusion, it makes the whole trilogy stand out. Filmmakers (especially that guy who made 'X-Men: The Last stand') should learn how to make a trilogy interesting and intelligent. 'The Bourne Ultimatum' is an intelligent, slick, well-paced action film that respects the trilogy.

WOW! The best word that describes this movie is "wow"! Not only to say that this is the best Action movie of all time, this is probably one of the greatest movies ever made . The people in my country watched this film when there where limited VHS cassettes at all. And again, my favorite Director did an timeless epic-masterpiece. Yes, an epic. Every scene in this movie is beyond the perfection. The timeless plot. Groundbreaking effects. Unforgettable "Hasta la vista, baby." .

Perfect direction for a sci-fix action film. When the action starts, you're in for the ride of your life. There never be the same movie like T2. What else I can say about this film? A Must see for everyone.

Gladiator Reviews

An intense Roman epic, a la "Ben-Hur" or "Spartacus," it was nice to see something like this made again. It had been since the 1960s that we had seen a 3-hour extravaganza like this.

Like Ben-Hur, this is a story of a successful man who loses everything thanks to an evil man, and then has to fight his way back up to seek revenge on that man and to obtain his freedom back. It's a tried-and-true formula. This movie doesn't go to excess on the violence as some of the other more recent epic films did, such as "Braveheart" or "The Patriot."

The acting is excellent, beginning with Russell Crowe, who has established himself as one of the best actors of today. Joaquin Phoenix also put himself "on the map" as an actor with his portrayal of the evil "Commodus." He's so annoying you want to slap that sucker, which means he's doing a good job acting. Kudos to the rest of the cast, too.

Too bad they don't make more of these type of films, as they did in the 1950s and 1960s.

Pitch Perfect 2 (2015) Reviews

I give this a 10 not because it was flawless. It was far from. But, because it surpassed my expectations AND was better than the first (IMO : I've heard differential opinions.) Usually I avoid giving 10's because usually I give 10's to films I believe everyone should see. Which is not this. If some horror fanatic asked for recommendations, I would not recommend this. But, this is different. This one is a film I honestly believe is the exception (I won't say only, because I've given 10's to films before) because : I was laughing through almost all of it. In my opinion this was bigger and better than the first. The beginning was HILARIOUS. Elizabeth Banks and John Michael Higgins were even funnier in this one than the first! The script was more in touch with the characters rather than the first when it was super rushed. (Besides Stacie, Jessica, Ashley and Jesse who were in it notably less.) They introduced a new BELLA who is HYSTERICAL (Flo) And they had great music. (Including Jessie J's 'Flashlight.) Overall, if you're a fan of Pitch Perfect... Please see this. SCRIPT - 10/10 ACTING : 9.5/10 (what do you expect?) JOKES - 10/10 SONGS - 10/10 OVERALL - 10/10

The Little Death (2014) Movie Reviews

I've seen my fair share of comedies, to be honest its one of my favourite genre of film and television. However, when I sat down with my fiancé to watch The Little Death, I didn't quite expect the disturbing hilarity which ensued.

IMDb describes the film as "a truly original comedy about sex, love, relationships and taboo." and I would certainly agree with them. Write and director, Josh Lawson (Anchorman 2), perfectly combines the awkwardness of discussing sex and fetishes with a funny and provocative insight into the lives of these fictional couples.

From foot fetishes to rape fantasies, nothing is off limits here and the unfortunate involvement of a sign language translator in a sex chat call tops it off perfectly and had me dreading the next scene for fear of my sides actually splitting.

In simple terms, The Little Death is a humorous take on some moderately serious views on modern day sex and gives the more vanilla viewer an insight into the lives of people who could easily be our neighbours.

My vote, 8/10. Just watch out for the resident sex offender, Gollywogs can be a frightening distraction....

Escobar: Paradise Lost Movie Review 

An OK film, but not a great film.
A bit too movie-of-the-week 'by the numbers' even for a risk-averse first time director. Lot's of potential for crackling drama + tension but we don't really experience any until the 3rd act and even then it seems proforma.
It is supposed to be based upon "true events" but the film ends without any explanation as to what happened to the main characters.
Benicio del Toro steals every scene and without him this would be a 3. Josh Hutcherson seems to struggle with the role playing someone who is (sort of) struggling with his conscience. The rest of the key supporting cast are cyphers with the exception of Carlos Bardem who nails the role of Drago.

I saw the dark knight about three years ago when I was in the 8th grade. And I was blown away at how beautifully done it was, the camera work, the acting, the story, it all took me by surprise. It is to this day one of the best movies I have ever seen or will see. No other movie can impact you in such an intense way than The Dark Knight. It is a movie worth seeing due to the fact that the workers put so much time and effort into this one film and they did not want to waste money putting up garbage. So Christopher Nolan, thank you for not wasting our time, instead earning our time with this film. To this day I still am anxious to see the movie at home. I recommend it to anyone who likes action movies in general. To anyone who doesn't, don't waste your time write bad reviews about this film.

I at least give this movie credit for trying and of course producer want money so there is nothing wrong in giving the viewers what they crave for: Really cheesy love-stories, arrogant bad-boys and girls that behave like they can't decide whether they wanna be rude or just girlish. And that's the core: Most of the people in this movie are just RUDE. If you laugh at the opening vomit-scene there is no doubt you will love the rest of this movie but gosh was that scene in bad taste!

Worst part is: The sining is not half-bad! It's the dialogue that drags it down and these chliché group of teenagers whose try desperately to be "special" (which is good) and then fall in the same trap most other modern teenage movies like StepUp3D do.

After so many anabolic-muscles and girlish overacting girls it's just black magic to me that no one seems to question this film's message.

Focus Movie Reviews

"Focus" blends two different movies in roughly equal measure. One is a movie about con men, scam artists and hustlers, in the tradition of "The Sting," "Ocean's Eleven," "House of Games" and "Shade." The second movie is a romantic comedy between two people who are strongly attracted to one another, but who cannot and do not trust each other.

The movie about con men is brilliant. The hustles and scams are clever and cleverly executed with excellent skill and tradecraft. Dramatically, the double-blinds and double- crosses are well executed. The players con their marks, one another and the audience with finesse and aplomb. The cinematography, choreography and editing are crisp. The reveals are plausible within the film's cosmos of reality.

The romantic comedy is not bad. One can understand and believe the attraction between the two characters. Will Smith's character is hunky, clever, confident, successful and wealthy. Margot Robbie's character is gorgeous, sexy, vulnerable, clever and charming. But the major plot points in this boy finds girl, boy loses girl, boy wins girl back subplot seem contrived, while the intriguing aspect of their relationship (How can two con artists with a history of deceiving one another learn to trust one another?) isn't explored in a satisfactory manner. Instead we get a breakup for reasons that are never explained, a repeated gag involving a wallet, and a massive coincidence that leads the audience to believe one of them has a hidden agenda involving the other. The relationship between them works best when they are conning one another, but it needs resolution.

Technically, the film is beautifully done. Cinematography, locations, wardrobe, make-up, editing, audio -- everything is polished. It's a movie that merits a second or third viewing, not only to see the cons played out, but also to appreciate some of the subtle foreshadowing.
